We really enjoyed the Rioja trip – it’s hard to believe we were wine trip ‘virgins’ a mere
18 months ago! It was lovely meeting up with old friends and making new ones and
interesting to see the contrast between the more modern bodega of La Finca de Los
Arandinos and the two older ones of Marqués de Murrietta and Muga.
The timing of the trip also provided the treat of seeing the vineyards in autumn colours;wine making in
action at the Muga bodega as well as the beautiful wood in their cooperage. The
gourmet tapas and wines at Murrietta were outstanding; the lunch, wines and cava at
Muga were excellent as were the dinners at La Finca hotel. The group meals are a great
way to get to know fellow travellers and we much prefer the organised meals to doing our
own thing. Looking forward to future events!
